Host: Jim Schneider
Guest: Rocky Hulse
Rocky Hulse, a 6th generation former Mormon, is the Director of the Nauvoo Christian Visitors Center in Nauvoo, Illinois. He has authored a book entitled, When Salt Lake City Calls--Is There a Conflict Between Mormonism and the Public Trust?
Rocky believes that the Mormon church is a master at public relations, however Rocky believes the image doesn't comport with reality.
The reality begins with the male-centered Mormon priesthood which is the ruling entity and power. In Mormonism, God is said to have created the universe, and that he continues to control it, through the priesthood.
Young Mormon males go through various ordinations depending upon their age. Rocky noted that there are two specific levels of priesthood, the Aaronic priesthood and the Melchizedek priesthood. This latter priesthood is the one alluded to earlier that created, operates, and rules our universe. In Mormonism, this priesthood will also be responsible for those universes, earths, and physical offspring that will be created in the future by those Mormon males who progress in this life and the next to become gods themselves.
Rocky discusses why there is a conflict of interest between Mormonism and the public trust. It has to do with the oaths of covenants and obedience to Mormonism that must come first before any other allegiances. This is especially important when you consider that the leader/prophet of the Mormon church is considered the mouthpiece of God on earth.
As an example, Rocky hypothetically asked that if there was a bill on the desk of "President" Mitt Romney, and the prophet of the Mormon church calls and wants that bill vetoed, is Mr. Romney going to argue with the man considered to be God's oracle on earth?
